Winston Visbeck

September 29, 1949 — March 3, 2024

Woodstock, CT

WOODSTOCK, CT – Winston Visbeck, 74, of Oak Hill Estates, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in West Brookfield, after a short battle with an aggressive cancer.  He is survived by two children, Jason W. Visbeck of Safety Harbor, FL, and Lana M. Packard and her husband, Michael, of Eliot, ME; four grandchildren, Audrey, Saveriya “Sevy”, Ethan, and Avani; his longtime companion and best friend, Diane Kane of Woodstock, CT, her children and grandchildren; and former wife, Gayle L. Christenson.  He was predeceased by a sister, Gina R. MacVicar; and his step parents, David and Doris Baldwin.  He was born in Knoxville, TN, son of the late Johannes Teichmueller of Germany and Saveria (Michetti) Visbeck of Switzerland, and lived many years in Millbury and Oxford before moving to Woodstock over 20 years ago.  He graduated from Oxford High School in 1967 and attended the University of Massachusetts.

Mr. Visbeck worked at Automatic Rolls of New England for over 30 years prior to retirement.  He was an enthusiastic golfer who began golf later in life, and was a regular pass-holder frequenting Raceway, Harrisville, and Vineyard Valley Golf Clubs.  He enjoyed bicycling and rode with a close group of fellow cyclist “friends” from his neighborhood.  He completed the Pan Mass Challenge twice, and traveled New England following many a race.

Mr. Visbeck was an avid collector of antiques and sports memorabilia.  He was a Boston sports enthusiast, and especially loved the Bruins. He had an incredible, personal, life history; one that he loved to share with people close to him, along with his encyclopedia of life stories and lessons, that made a huge impression on his children’s upbringing. He will be remembered as an intelligent, humble, and thoughtful man, who loved life and cared deeply for his grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Danielle and the nurses of Quaboag on the Common for their exceptional care during his illness, as well as the physicians and nurses at the various CT and MA hospitals.

Services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, Mr. Visbeck and his family requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
