WEBSTER – William L. Soucy, Jr., 90, of Valley Street, died Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in his home. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Forrester) Soucy; a brother, Robert Soucy of Worcester; a sister, Monica Sobalesky of Rhode Island; three children, Wendy Davis and her husband Jeff, Gary St. Denis and his wife Kim, and Pamela Durkin and her husband Tom; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including his two special granddaughters, Shannon and Danielle Wilga. Danielle and Bill “Pepe” shared a very close bond and considered each other best friends enjoying every day living life to the fullest. Bill is now finally at peace with his two sons who predeceased him, William L. “Chip” Soucy III who died in 2014, and Scot M. Soucy who died in 1980. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters; and a daughter, Sharon Ferguson who died in 1999. He was born in New Britain, CT, son of the late William L. and Alice (Robarge) Soucy. He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1949. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he received the Korean Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars.
Mr. Soucy was a truck driver with the Teamsters Local 170 for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the VFW Post 5663 in Oxford and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 in Worcester. He was a member of the Auburn Elks in Auburn, and a 60-year member of the American Legion Post 184 in Webster. Previously, he was a member of the American Legion Post 58 in Oxford and 443 in Cherry Valley. He enjoyed watching boxing, especially Rocky Marciano. Mr. Soucy was a fan of the New England Patriots and never missed the Army/Navy football game. GO ARMY!
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial with military honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A calling hour will be held on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
