William Rourke

December 7, 1946 — February 25, 2014

INTERVALE, NH/NORTH OXFORD - William "Billy" F. Rourke, 67, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, NH. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Whalen) Rourke of Intervale, NH and North Oxford; two children, Tiffany VanNorman and her husband Matthew of Spencer, and Cheyne McDonald and her husband Michael of New Ipswich, NH; three grandchildren, Kassandra VanNorman of Spencer, and Brennah and Abigail McDonald, both of New Ipswich, NH. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra (Lemaire) Rourke. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Paul V. and Florence E. (Temosko) Rourke. Billy was a graduate of St. John's High School in Worcester, and after college worked for NCR prior to owning and operating the Quarter Keg Pub in Charlton for over 10 years. During this time he sponsored many Worcester St. Patrick's Day Parade award winning floats, established the QKP Volleyball leagues and was the creative mind behind the original Charlton based "Chunkindales," which brought enjoyment to all. In his retirement, he worked part time at Grant's Supermarket, Eddie Bauer, and Brooks Brothers, as well as several other jobs in the Mount Washington Valley area. Billy was an avid golfer, and enjoyed restoring his old Mount Washington Valley home in New Hampshire. Billy will be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity, sense of humor and love of life. Calling hours are Sunday, March 2, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home at the conclusion of the calling hours. A memorial service and burial will be scheduled at a later date in the Mount Washington Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Arbor House" by making checks payable to Central Maine Medical Center, c/o Jeri Maurer, 300 Main St., Lewiston, ME 04240.
