WEBSTER —William Joseph Pina, 95, of Ash Street, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bettyann (Gagner) Pina of Webster; seven children, Ricardo F. Pina of Worcester, Pamela M. Merchant of Weymouth, William A. Pina of Worcester, Belinda A. Pina of Spencer, Michelle Bailly of Worcester, Robin E. Bailey of Columbia, SC, and Lisa M. Rodgers of Williamston, NC; a brother, Robert Pina of Dorchester; three sisters, Rose Mencos of Roslindale, Clara Johnson of Dorchester, and Terry Fernandes of South Attleboro; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Frank J. Pina who died in 2015; two stepsons, Emile J. Plourde IV who died in 1992, and David M. Plourde who died in 2018; a brother, Frank Pina; and two sisters, Nancy Pina and Clementina Harris. He was born in Boston, son of the late Harrison and Mary (Lopes) Pina, and lived in Boston, Spencer, and Dudley, before moving to Webster in 1977.
Mr. Pina worked at Ken-Weld in Worcester for 16 years, retiring in 1993. Later, he worked at the Lodge at Eddy Pond in Auburn. He was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Oxford.
The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice, his nurse Gina, and his aide Brenda, for their exceptional care during his illness.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 270 Main St., Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Webster. Calling hours are Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
