NORTH OXFORD – William P. Hassett, Jr., 47, of Marcam Village Rd., died suddenly on Saturday, July 28, 2007, in his home. He is survived by his wife, Laurie A. (Mecum) Hassett of North Oxford; three children, Thomas J. Hassett, William P. Hassett III, and Taylor M. Hassett, all of North Oxford; his mother, Shirley F. (Gregory) Hassett of Oxford; a brother, Michael C. Hassett of Oxford; three sisters, Debra L. Schofield of Shrewsbury, Sandra S. Genduso of Auburn, and Patti Jo Green of Oxford; as well as many nephews, nieces, and many friends. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late William P. Hassett, Sr., and was raised in Leicester and lived in Shrewsbury for several years before moving to North Oxford 10 years ago. He graduated from Leicester High School in Leicester in 1977. Mr. Hassett previously worked as a warehouse supervisor at Sweet Life Foods in Northborough for over 10 years. He was captain of his football team, baseball team, and basketball team at Leicester High School. He enjoyed coaching his sons in Little League and Pop Warner Football in Shrewsbury and Oxford. He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Red Sox, Patriots and Cowboys. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 31, 2007, from 4-7 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford High School Athletic Department, 495 Main Street, Oxford, MA 01540.
