Wanda Yucatonis

NORTH OXFORD - Wanda L. (Michalak) Yucatonis, 92, of Pinedale Drive, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, William J. Yucatonis of North Oxford, who died in 2007. She is survived by three children, William P. Yucatonis of North Oxford, Paula J. Brunelle and her husband Richard of Oxford, and Debra A. Charbonneau and her husband David of Auburn; eight grandchildren, William, Christopher, Sarah, Jared, Bryan, Leah, Derek, and Deanna; five great grandchildren, Grace, Jack, Charlie, Nicolas, and Alana; several nephews and nieces; and her dog, Crby. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Lisa Mary Yucatonis; and five sisters. She was born in Oxford, the daughter of the late Ignacy and Stanislawa (Duszynski) Michalak, and lived in most of her life in North Oxford. She was a graduate of Leicester High School. Mrs. Yucatonis worked for Traveler's Insurance Company in Worcester for many years. In addition, she was an election worker for the Town of Oxford for 47 years, recently receiving a citation for longest employment with the town. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford and a former member of the Women's Guild. She enjoyed making baptismal garments for the church for many years. Mrs. Yucatonis loved to golf and belonged to the Leicester Country Club for many years. She was a member of the woman's bowling league at the Colonial Bowling Alley in Worcester for many years. She was an avid sports fan of the Boston teams, and has been a season ticket holder for the New England Patriots for nearly 30 years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. The family would like to thank the V.N.A. of Southern Worcester County, Tri-Valley Elder Services, and Overlook Masonic Health Center, for their exceptional care. A funeral will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at Westridge Cemetery in Charlton. Calling hours are Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lisa Yucatonis Scholarship Fund, c/o Oxford High School, 495 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540, or to St. Ann's Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537.
