Walter Stone

OXFORD - Walter D. Stone, 67, of Church St., died Tuesday, February 15, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl L. (Clarke) Stone who died in 2004. He is survived by five children, Donna J. White of Charlton, and Sharon L. Foux, Donald J. Stone Sr., Susan E. O'Connor, and Timothy D. Stone, all of Oxford; his sister, Judy I. Stone of Oxford; his brother, Kevin H. Stone of Oxford; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was born in Oxford, the son of the late Harry E. and Elida (Lincoln) Stone, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. Mr. Stone worked in building maintenance at Leggett and Platt in Oxford for 45 years, retiring in November of 2010. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley. Calling hours are Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at North Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
