Walter Paul

NORTHBRIDGE - Walter R. Paul, 61, of Providence Rd., died suddenly on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a short illness. He is survived by three children, Robert W. Scerra of Gilford, NH, Adam W. Paul of Northbridge, and Ashley M. Paul of Northbridge; a brother, Arthur F. Paul and his wife Mac of Woodstock, CT; a sister, Phyllis E. Knowles of Worcester; three grandchildren, Nicholas Scerra, Natasha Scerra, and Troy Rudder; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Paul Jr., who died in 1968. He was born and raised in Oxford, the son of the late Theodore and Florence R. (Daoust) Paul Sr., and lived in Northbridge for the past 20 years. He attended Oxford Public Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Paul was a tire technician at Worcester Tire Company, retiring in 2008 due to disability. Previously, he worked at various tire companies throughout the area for many years. He was very active with the veterans in recent years, and was proud of his military service with the Navy. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching M.A.S.H. He will be remembered as a devoted family man who loved his children and grandchildren, and as a loving grandfather to his grandson, Troy. Calling hours are Saturday, July 11, 2009, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating.
