Timothy Blackwood

OXFORD - Timothy A. Blackwood, 56, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He fought the most difficult fight of a conglomerate of illnesses, that no one person should have to endure, for many, many years. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, who was his high school sweetheart, his rock, and love of his life, Paula A. (Brunette) Blackwood of Oxford; two children, April L. Blackwood of Oxford and Shane P. Blackwood of Oxford; his "son-in-law" Mark Mailloux of Oxford; Shane's partner, Renee Archambeault of Oxford; his mother, Mary R. (Wanto) Blackwood of Konawa, OK; his brother, Roger D. Blackwood of Norman, OK; two nephews, one niece, and an extended family of sisters-in law, brothers-in-law, and additional nephews and nieces. In addition, he is survived by his beloved dog, Ginger; and his adoring pets Lola, Oreo, Tiny, and Pandy. He was predeceased by a brother, David W. Blackwood who died in 2004; and a niece, Sally R. Blackwood who died in 1973. He was born in Honolulu, HI, the son of the late G.C. Blackwood, and lived in Webster before moving to Oxford in 1979. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1975. Mr. Blackwood owned and operated Princess Catering in Oxford for 12 years, retiring in 2000. He was a self-taught top-notch chef. He loved playing in the Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday pitch leagues, and had many great friends there. He collected stamps and coins, enjoyed going to auctions and the occasional trip to Foxwoods. His life centered around his family, and he will leave a great love for the grandchildren he will one day have. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, March 24, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, FL, 33134.
