CHARLTON – Thomas W. Dawson, 94, of Richardson Corner Road, died Friday, December 23, 2016, in his home after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Diana C. (Zinkowsky) Dawson of Charlton, who died in 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Diana L. King and her husband Rodney of Charlton; two granddaughters, Melanie A. Woodcock and her husband John of Charlton, and Mellisa S. Chapman and her husband Joseph of Southbridge; six great grandchildren, two grandchildren of his heart, many nephews and nieces, and his constant companion, Cole. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. He was born in Portsmouth, NH, son of the late William E. and Gladys A. (Manning) Dawson, and lived in Charlton since 1966. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Dawson was an oil burner technician at Bemis & Hobbs in Spencer, retiring many years ago. He was a member of the American Legion Post 391 in Charlton. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years, traveling, and most of all loved to spend time with his family. He will be remembered as a wonderful family man.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
