Teresa Comptois

WEBSTER – Teresa M. (Kowalchek) Comptois, 76, of Marilyn Drive, died after a short illness at the Transitional Care Unit at Webster on Saturday, April 2, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Donald R. Comptois who died in 1996. She is survived by three children, Janet M. Norton-Anderson and her husband Andy of North Attleboro, Richard A. Comptois and his companion Cynthia Zerdecki of Charlton, and Lisa M. Ginsburg and her husband Jamie of Webster; 9 grandchildren, Samantha, Eric, and Nicholas Comptois, Ryan and Katelyn Norton, Jennifer Wood, Sean Comptois, Julie-Ann and Max Ginsburg; 9 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Paul R. Comptois; two brothers, Edward and Walter Kowalchek; and a sister, Doris Kerswell. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward R. and Lucy (Postol) Kowalchek, and lived in Worcester and Auburn before moving to Webster in 2003. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1958.

Mrs. Comptois worked at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, in Worcester for 25 years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford. She was an active member of the Oxford Senior Center and enjoyed going on senior trips with the many friends she made there. She liked gardening, traveling, playing cards, bingo, and dominos, and loved her “scratchies.” She missed her dog Muffy very much, and will be missed by her dog Pepper.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Transitional Care Unit at Webster, 340 Thompson Rd., Webster, MA 01570.
