Sven Troest

OXFORD - Sven "Jet" Troest, 62, of Little John Circle, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, died Thursday, August 28, 2014, in his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Denise M. (Robichaud) Troest of Oxford; his mother, Inger (Peterson) Troest; 2 children, 4 step-children, 17 grandchildren; his sister, Elizabeth Mancuso of New Hampshire; and his nephew, Tony Mancuso and his wife Michelle, and their daughters Sabrina and Brianna. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Troest of Fitchburg. He was born in Fitchburg, the son of the late Kurt Troest, and lived in Fitchburg before moving to Oxford 23 years ago. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1971. Sven worked for S. Fors Construction Company in Ashby for 35 years. He enjoyed spending all of his spare time with his wife and grandchildren. He enjoyed sports. He was known for being a gentle and kind man. Sven's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Visiting Nurses & Samaritans of Southern Worcester County for their most excellent care, as well as Central Mass Hospice. Naomi, Nancy, Jeanine, Lynne, Michele, Carol & Marilyn; thank you all for the love, care & dignity you showed to Sven every day. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Mass. Hospice, 191 Pakachoag St. Auburn, MA 01501.
