Susan M. Pontbriand

NORTH OXFORD – Susan M. (Lockhart) Pontbriand, 73, of Patricia Drive, died Thursday, January 23, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. She is survived by two children, Michele Hutchinson and her husband Nason of Oxford, and Troy Pontbriand and his wife Jessica of Charlton; a brother, Ronald Lockhart of Charlton; three grandchildren, Macy Sue Hutchinson of Oxford, and Tyler and Keenan Pontbriand, both of Charlton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her companion of over 25 years, James P. Cloutier of North Oxford, who died in 2023.

She was born in Southbridge, daughter of the late Norman and Shirley (Keefe) Lockhart, and lived in North Oxford since 1997. She graduated from Charlton High School in 1970.

Ms. Pontbriand was a claims subrogation assistant for Mapfre Insurance in Webster for 17 years, retiring in 2017. Previously she was a woodworker at Dani and Soldani in Southbridge for 16 years. When her children were young, she stayed home to care for her home and family. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff from the 8th floor Oncology Department at UMass, for their exceptional care during her illness.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
