Sophia Nesta

OXFORD - Sophia Nesta, 94, of June Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2009, with her family by her side. She is survived by her brother, Yarno Nesta of Pompano Beach, FL; his son John and daughter-in-law Elaine; and their sons James and Andrew. She was predeceased by a brother, Johnny; and two sisters, Mary and Claire. She was born in Oxford, the daughter of the late Angelo and Thespina (Prifty) Nesta, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1933. Miss Nesta was retired from Worcester Girls Trade High School, where she worked for 12 years. Previously, she was an instructor at Broms Academy in Worcester for and was a beautician for several years. She was dedicated to her family and will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. A calling hour will be Tuesday, October 13, 2009, from 10-11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
