Shirley Smith

WORCESTER - Shirley M. (Kouts) Smith, 92, of Narragansett Avenue, died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Christopher House in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Arthur N. Smith of Worcester. She is survived by two children, Mark C. Smith and his wife Georgia Xydes of Austin, TX, and Beverly J. Smith and her husband Karl Witter of Bloomington, CT; three grandchildren, Cameron of New York City, NY, Evangelos of St. Paul, MN, and Marika of Chantilly, VA; and three great grandchildren. She was born in Bisbee, AZ, the daughter of the late Oliver A. and Lillian (Neimeyer) Kouts, and lived in Worcester since 1945. Mrs. Smith worked at Holy Cross College in Worcester for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Before that she worked at Reed and Prince Manufacturing Co.. She was a former member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn. A private graveside service will be held at Browns Head Cemetery in Vinalhaven, Maine. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framiningham, MA 01701. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting with the arrangements.
