Shirley Matteau-Wrubel

DUDLEY - Shirley M. (Clementson) Matteau-Wrubel, 87, of Chase Avenue, a retired school nurse, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 16 years, Walter S. Wrubel of Dudley, who died in 2001. She is survived by two stepsons, Stanley "Neve" Wrubel of Dudley and Philip "Kevin" Wrubel of Worcester; three sisters, Ruth D. Gale of Auburn, Virginia Lamoreaux of Rutland, and Barbara Prentiss of Saco, ME; six step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters, Esther Carson and Patricia Matthews. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late William T. and May D. (Jacques) Clementson, and lived in Millbury, Oxford, and Webster, before moving to Dudley in 1987. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1940 and Hahnemann Hospital Nursing School in 1941. Mrs. Wrubel was a registered nurse at the Oxford Public Schools for 37 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. Mrs. Wrubel was a member of the Oxford Teacher's Association and the Massachusetts Teacher's Association. She was a member of the N.E.A. Teacher's Association and the Massachusetts School Nurse Association. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Roch's Church, c/o the Memorial Fund, 334 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
