Shirley Kneeland

OXFORD - Shirley A. (Westlund) Kneeland, 69, of Main St., died Monday, July 7, 2014, at UMass Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard M. Kneeland of Oxford; two daughters, Melissa M. Kneeland of Oxford and Melanie L. Rossignol and her husband David of Ashburnham; four grandchildren, Lauren, Ricky, Jonathan, and Mandy; and a niece and nephew, Rebecca and Eric. She was born in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna E. (Peterson) Westlund, and lived in Auburn before moving to Oxford 42 years ago. She graduated from Auburn High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. Mrs. Kneeland was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn. She taught Sunday school and confirmation classes at the church, and was a former member of the building committee. She was a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls and was a former member of the Huguenot REACT team in Oxford for many years. She enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and loved her cats. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center of Hope, P.O. Box 66, Southbridge, MA 01550, to help support their athletes who participate in the Special Olympics.
