OXFORD - Shirley F. (Gregory) Hassett, 76, of Wheelock Street, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 16, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, William P. Hassett Sr. who died in 2004; and her son, William P. Hassett Jr. who died in 2007. She is survived by four children, Debra Schofield of Shrewsbury, Sandra Genduso of Auburn, Patti-Jo Green of Oxford, and Michael Hassett of Oxford; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many cousins, and her faithful companion, Buddy. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Charles D. and Statia (Bujnowski) Gregory, and lived in Leicester before moving to Oxford 12 years ago. Mrs. Hassett worked at Killeen Manufacturing for many years. Later, she was a waitress at Friendly's Restaurant on Lincoln Street in Worcester. She enjoyed all New England Sports, animals, and trips to the casino. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was always active and supportive in the activities of her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from 1-West at Memorial Hospital, for their compassionate care during her illness. A graveside service will be private at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605. Paradis Funeral Home, Oxford, is assisting with arrangements.
