Shirley Earley

OXFORD - Shirley F. (Sandy) Earley, 85, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Oakwood Nursing Home in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Kenneth F. Earley of Oxford, who died in 1977. She is survived by seven children, Donna F. Thomas of Oxford, Lynn M. Morin of Southbridge, Kevin M. Earley and his fiancée Elaine Polinski of Oxford, Kathleen J. Earley of Oxford, Terrance J. Earley and his fiancée Cynthia St. Onge of Oxford, Barry P. Earley of Oxford, and Jacqueline A. Earley of Grafton; a sister, Phyllis McAuliffe of West Boylston; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two daughters, Michelle Earley of Worcester, who died in 1953, and Barbara A. Sherwood of Worcester, who died in 1996; and a sister, Barbara Byzdra of Hartford, CT. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late James A. and Mary E. (Wallace) Sandy, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1955. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade High School in Worcester. Mrs. Earley worked at Robinson Thread Co. in Worcester for over 10 years. Previously, she worked the Eli Sandman Co. in Worcester. Mrs. Earley was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and enjoyed ceramics. She was a loving mother who raised nine children, including two sets of twins. She helped to take care of care of the neighborhood children. A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakwood Nursing Home, c/o the Activities Department, 11 Pontiac Ave., Webster, MA 01570.
