OXFORD – Ruth E. (Woodcock) Eastman, 96, formerly of Conlin Road, died peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2016, after a long healthy life. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett M. Eastman of Oxford who died in 2009; and her son, James E. Eastman of Oxford who died in 1979. She is survived by her close friends, Tanya Burlingame, Joe and Kim Direnzo, and Michael and Karen LeBlanc. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Earl J. and Julia E. (Dury) Woodcock, and lived most of her life in Oxford.
Mrs. Eastman worked at Oxford High School for 11 years, retiring in 1981. Previously, she worked at Carlton Woolen Mill in Rochdale for 20 years. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and crafts. She was well-known at local craft shows.
Her friends would like to offer a special thanks to Tanya Burlingame and the Burlingame family for caring for their exceptional care.
A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, September 12, 2016, at North Cemetery, Main St., Oxford. There are no calling hours. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
