Ruth Boss

OXFORD – Ruth Marion (Barrett) Boss, 89, of Wheelock St., died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Oakwood Nursing Home in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest L. Boss, Sr., of Oxford, who died in 1989. She is survived by three sons, David A. Carpenter of Dunnellon, FL, Gary M. Carpenter of Warwick, RI, and Michael J. Boss of Charlton; four daughters, Beverly M. Faggiano of Quincy, Judy A. O'Reilly of Greenwood, SC, Bonnie J. Scott of Oxford, and Tammy J. Brown of Charlton; a stepson, Ernest L. Boss Jr. of Worcester; two step daughters, Beverly J. Morton and Linda Sturtze-McDonough, both of Worcester; a sister, Shirley M. Harvey of Auburn; twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Donald E. Carpenter, who died in 1977. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Myron and Florence A. (Dickenson) Barrett, and lived in Auburn before moving to Oxford many years ago. Mrs. Boss was a waitress at the former New Yorker Restaurant in Auburn for 10 years. Previously, she worked at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton for 3 years. She was a former member of the Oxford Woman's Club, and she celebrated her 89th birthday on Saturday. Her greatest joy was her family. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, March 23, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department, 181 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540, or to the Oxford Police Department, 450 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
