OXFORD – Russell S. “Corn Man” Caissie, 81, of Patton Street, passed away after living life to the fullest on Friday, March 31, 2017, with his family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy A. (Clarke) Caissie of Oxford; five children, Melanie A. Kujawski and her husband Michael of Webster, Clarke C. Caissie and his wife Haeley of Oxford, Russell Caissie Jr. and his wife Michelle of Charlton, Stephanie A. Meyer and her husband Fred of Oxford, and Jennie L. Caissie and her husband Burke Desautels of Oxford; three brothers, Arthur Caissie of Worcester, David Caissie of San Francisco, CA, and Dennis Caissie of Maine; four sisters, Janet Couture of Oxford, Ethel Boissonault of Westfield, Leona Parker of Florida, and Roberta Hammond of Oxford; and eight grandchildren, Julie, Daniel, Cameron, Erin, Madison, Haley, Caissie, and Sydney. He was predeceased by four brothers, Robert Caissie, Barry Caissie, Leonard Caissie, and Joseph Caissie; and two sisters, Lois Forleo and Frances Wheeler.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph O. and Ethel (Cunningham) Caissie, and lived most of his life in Oxford. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with both the U.S. Army and Air Force.

Mr. Caissie worked for the Cement Finishers Union Local 243 in Brockton for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He was known as the “Corn Man” in Oxford. In his younger years, he traveled throughout the country boxing in many cities, including at Mechanics Hall in Worcester as Red Tiger Caissie. He was a member of Singletary Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed watching football, golfing, and driving the Oxford police cruiser home. He was loved by many and will be remembered for having a great smile and a kind word for anyone he met. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
