OXFORD -- Ruby A. (LaPearl) Hawksley, 91, of Walcott St., died suddenly on January 31, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Leroy E. Hawksley of Oxford who died in 2010. She is survived by two sons, Alan L. Hawksley and his wife Rev. R. Maureen Hawksley of Higganum, CT, and Gary D. Hawksley and his wife Terry of Webster; her sister-in-law, Goldena Beals of Oxford; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her sister, Ada E. Murdock of Oxford. She was born in Sturbridge, the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Mabel E. (Gage) LaPearl, and lived most of her life in Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1937 and Becker College in 1939. Mrs. Hawksley was the office manager at Krintzman Dusting Mills in North Oxford for 43 years. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, as well as the former financial secretary, auditor, and treasurer at the church. She was a member of the Oxford Historical Society and a former officer in the Grange. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling in her trailer with her husband, membership in the Holiday Ramblers, and winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
