Roy Jacques, Sr.

NORTH OXFORD - Roy W. Jacques Sr., 83, of Maple Avenue, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean F. (Porter) Jacques of North Oxford; three children, Roy W. Stager Jacques Jr. of New Zealand, Pamela A. Dunn and her husband David of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Michele J. Ryan and her husband Rick of Weston; and four grandchildren, Meghan Dunn of Edmond, OK, Ryan Dunn of Raleigh, NC, Kaila Ryan and Brianna Ryan, both of Weston. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Alphege and Beatrice M. (Malboeuf) Jacques, and lived in Worcester before moving to North Oxford 65 years ago. He attended Commerce High School in Worcester and New England School of Accounting. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Jacques owned and operated Roy's Esso and Jacques Exxon, both in Worcester, for 40 years before retiring in 1987. He was a volunteer for the Oxford Fire Department for 25 years. He dearly loved St. Ann's Church in North Oxford and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also a member of the Greendale Men's Club in Worcester. A funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
