OXFORD - Roland W. "Butch" Young, Jr., 66, of Sibley Circle, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after being stricken ill at home. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cynthia H. (Marean) Young of Oxford; two children, Roland W. Young, III, of Virginia and Shanon "Shay" M. Young of Thompson, CT; two brothers, Robert Young and his wife Christine of Lake Helen, FL, and John Young of Douglas; a sister, Paulette Masse of Millbury; four grandchildren, Joshua Beach, Jarred Beach, Brittany Young, and Jamie Young; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Ferraro and her husband Terrance of Worcester; and several special nephews and nieces. He was born in Sutton, the son of the late Roland W. Young, Sr. and Marion E. (Marble) Young, and lived in Webster and Dudley, before moving to Oxford 23 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Young was a truck driver for Worcester Envelope Company in Auburn for 16 years, retiring in 2002. Previously, he drove for Worcester Quality Foods in Millbury for 15 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Young enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife and working on his hot rod. He enjoyed traveling to Boothbay Harbor and Ogunquit, ME, as well as the Finger Lakes in Branchport, NY. He will be remembered as a caring man who had a great love for people. The family would like to thank Dr. E. Russell Young and staff for the exceptional care they gave to Roland over the past several years. A memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Veteran's Shelter, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
