STURBRIDGE/WEBSTER – Roland W. Tremblay, Sr., 90, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Webster Manor Nursing Home in Webster. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Theresa R. (Morin) Tremblay. He is survived by four children, Jean Lubelzcyk and her husband Charles of Gilbertville, Diane Lamontagne and her husband Paul of Sturbridge, Shirley Hobbs and her husband William of Athol, and Roland W. Tremblay Jr. and his wife Lisa of Southbridge; eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Armand Tremblay who died in 2015; and a granddaughter, Pamela (Mailhot) Brown who died in 2014. He was born in Sturbridge, son of the late Wilfred and D. Louise (Perkins) Tremblay, and lived in Sturbridge for most of his life. Many of his retirement years were spent in Sebring, FL, before moving to Webster nine years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Tremblay owned and operated Roland’s Auto in Sturbridge for 10 years, retiring over 25 years ago. Previously, he owned Roland’s Gulf in Sturbridge for 25 years. He was a former member of St. Anne Church in Sturbridge. He loved playing the accordion and the piano, and enjoyed his retirement in Florida. He will be remembered as a hard-working man who enjoyed spending time with his wife.
A private service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
