Roland Delage

CHARLTON – Roland L. "Pep" Delage, 100, of Masonic Home Road, died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Cecile L. (Giroux) Delage who died in 1998. He is survived by his son, Edward R. Delage and his wife Clara of Southbridge; his daughter, Pauline Lareau and her husband Ronald of Rochdale; five grandchildren, Pamela Goodnow and her husband David, Lisa Coyle and her husband Dennis, John Lareau and his wife Andrea, Lynda Lareau and Joseph Lareau and his wife Bolanle; and five great grandchildren, Sean Coyle, Nicholas Coyle, Jessica Coyle, Mary Lareau and Oliver Lareau. He was born in Southbridge, the son of the late Louis and Parmelie (Chaput) Delage, and lived in Southbridge for 71 years and Oxford for 25 years, before moving to Charlton 3 years ago. He was predeceased by a step brother, Rudolf Delage; and two stepsisters, Lea Larochelle and Eulalie Forcier. Mr. Delage was an offset linotype operator at Elm Press in Webster, retiring in 1974. Previously, he was an offset linotype operator at Southbridge Typesetting, Paquette's Stationery, the Southbridge News, and American Optical, all in Southbridge. He was a former member of the Tenant's Association at Huguenot Arms in Oxford and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4528 in Leicester, serving as Advocate for many years, and a past member of the Cercle Socialle in Southbridge. The family wishes to thank the staff members at Overlook Masonic Health Center for the excellent care he received while he was resident there. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester, MA. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Southbridge. In keeping with his wishes, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Overlook Masonic Health Center, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01540, or to a charity of your choice. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
