OXFORD – Roger S. Shedd, 86, of Walnut Street, died Monday, April 7, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife of almost 53 years, Carol A. (Morris) Shedd who died in 2013.

He is survived by three children, Sandra L. Leahey of Wendell, NC, Susan L. Stebbins of West Warren, and Roger A. Shedd and his wife Tina of North Brookfield; a brother, Robert J. Shedd of Oxford; a sister, Dorothy M. Morris and her husband Raymond of Woodbridge, VA; eleven grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Caitlin, Christopher, Adam, James, Candyce, Cassandra, William, Michael, and Matthew; five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Madeline, Clarice, Colton, and Lucas; one niece, and four nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas C. Shedd Jr.; and his special friend whom he spent over a decade with, Jan Fair who died in 2024.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Thomas C. and Mary (Kelman) Shedd, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1962. He enjoyed spending summers in New Hampshire when he was young. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in Worcester, and later served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, 1-181 Company in Worcester.

Mr. Shedd was a welder for Bay State Welding in Grafton for many years. He loved to play cribbage and often played with friends at the Oxford Senior Center. He was a member of the Friendly Riders and Double K’s Square Dance Club. He delivered Meals-on-Wheels for several years.

Mr. Shedd loved camping, especially at Sebago Basin Camping Ground in Maine, Meadowside in Connecticut, and Fish Creek in New York, and he enjoyed vacations in Key West. He was an accomplished woodworker and a skilled welder who had a keen eye for detail in his work.

Calling hours are Monday, April 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will then be held privately with his family at Pine Grove Cemetery in Boylston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
