Roger Prouty

WEBSTER - Roger E. Prouty, 83, formerly of Oxford, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris L. (Gauthier) Prouty of Webster; five children, Ronald R. Prouty of Leicester, Cynthia M. Recor of Palmer, Sandra A. Smith of Pennsylvania, Debra A. Morton of Webster, and Denise L. Stewart of North Oxford; a brother, Allen Prouty of Auburn; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. He was born in Oxford, the son of the late Forrest E. and Ruth (Humphrey) Prouty, and lived in Auburn and Oxford, and Webster. Mr. Prouty was a truck driver at American Stone Mix for 27 years. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and was a reserve police officer on the Oxford Police Department for 6 years. Most of all, he enjoyed being at home and spending time with his family. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be at a later date at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
