Roger Pelletier

CHARLTON - On May 4, 2011, Roger A. Pelletier, 79, of Charlton, passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness. He was born in Franklin, NH, lived in Maine, Oxford, and Spencer before moving to Charlton years ago. Roger enjoyed many seasons of gardening and working in his "shop." He was a former member of the Massachusetts National Guard, serving in the community in the aftermath of the 1955 tornado that devastated central Massachusetts. Roger worked as a tool and die maker before his retirement. He is best known for his smile, his love of family and home, and his unique hobbies. Favorite past times included fishing and "working the land." He was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Charlton. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beatrice (Cloungia) Pelletier of Charlton; six children, Cheryl Hatch and her husband Russell of Sterling, Steven Pelletier of Windsor, CT, Nancy Hammond of Charlton, Robert Pelletier and his wife Kris of Beverly, Andrew Pelletier and his wife Doreen of Dudley, and Theresa Pelletier and her husband Sander Kaplan of Chicago. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Meghan and Anthony Hammond of Charlton, Jaclyn Mellin and her husband Lenin Sanchez of Natick, Joshua and Daniele Pelletier of Dudley, Alexander and Jesse Pelletier of Beverly, and Tara Kaplan of Chicago. Surviving brothers and sisters include Cecile LeBoeuf and her husband Raymond, Lorraine Elkinson and her husband Edward, and Albert Pelletier and his wife Alice; as well as his brother-in-law Normand "Mike" Fournier and sister-in-law Claire Pelletier. He is predeceased by his infant son Thomas Pelletier; parents Alexander and Juliette (Brassard) Pelletier, and his brother Ronald and sister Jacqueline. Roger had many nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Sunday, May 8, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Summit Elder Care and the VNA Care Network and Hospice of Worcester for the services and support that they provided over the last five years.
