OXFORD - Roger U. "Cye" Bacon, 85, of Harwood Street, died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at Vibra Healthcare in Leicester. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Claire I. (Snow) Bacon of Oxford who died in 1998. He is survived by three stepchildren, Robert F. Nickerson of Las Cruces, NM, Claire S. Degon of Oxford, and Debra A. Fuhrmann of Danielson, CT; two brothers, Frederick "Leroy" Bacon of Dudley and John Bacon of Kennebunk, ME; a sister, Thelma Cazeault of Oxford; 7 step grandchildren, many step great-grandchildren, and very many friends. He was predeceased by a stepson, Kenneth R. Nickerson; two sisters and six brothers. He was born in Webster, the son of the late George A. and Edith M. (Scott) Bacon, and lived in Webster before moving to Oxford in 1940. He attended Oxford Public Schools in Oxford. Mr. Bacon worked for the Oxford Highway Department in Oxford for over 40 years, retiring over 20 years ago. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at North Cemetery, Main Street, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
