NORTH OXFORD – Robert W. Stone, 88, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Theresa A. (LeBlanc) Stone of North Oxford; two children, Gerald W. Stone of New York City, NY, and Sharon M. Mazurek of Oxford; a grandson, Ian Mazurek of New York City, NY; two heart sons, Donald Jolly of Sutton and John Sennhauser of New York City, NY; and many nephews and nieces. He was born in Oxford, son of the late William and Ethel (Stone) Stone, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the U.S.S. Wright.
Mr. Stone was a purchasing agent at Boston Digital for 5 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford. Mr. Stone coached baseball in Oxford and was a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford and was a volunteer firefighter for the Oxford Fire Department. He was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club in Worcester.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at St. Ann’s Church, 652 Main St.., North Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Ann’s Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
