Robert Putnam

SUTTON - Robert M. Putnam, 71, of West Sutton Road, died peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Sandalwood Nursing Home in Oxford. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverly C. (McDonald) Putnam of Sutton; a son, Thomas M. Putnam and his wife Berenice of Worcester; a daughter, Carolyn F. Putnam of Spencer; a brother, Lawrence R. Putnam and his wife Antonia of Haverhill; and a granddaughter, Nicole J. Putnam of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Russell S. and E. Louise (Plummer) Putnam, and lived in Charlton and Oxford before moving to Sutton 40 years ago. He graduated from Oxford High School and received an associate's degree from Worcester Junior College. He was a U. S. Army veteran, where he spent some of his time serving in Korea after the conflict concluded. The bulk of Mr. Putnam's working career was his 22 year employment at Morgan Construction Company in Worcester, where he designed and drafted factory piping systems. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at West Sutton Baptist Church. Bob was cremated, and there will be no cemetery involvement at this time. Light refreshments in the church hall will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is assisting with the arrangements.
