OXFORD – Robert W. “Pic” Picard Sr., of Oxford, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester after an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Suzanne M (Nault) Picard of Oxford; three children, Barbara J. Jeniski of Oxford, Robert W. Picard Jr. and his wife Michelle of Oxford, and Lynn M. Picard and her husband Gerald Burns of Spencer; eight grandchildren, Amanda Jeniski, Matthew Jeniski and his wife Kaleigh, Christopher Picard and his fiancée Kelsey Vega, Taylor Picard, Jarid Aker, Paige Mathisen, Michael Plante and his wife Taylor and Mackensie Plante; two great-grandsons, Landen Plante and Robert Jeniski; and many dear friends. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert L. and Finita (Mangano) Picard and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1971. He graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in Worcester. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Mr. Picard worked for the Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669 for 34 years. He remained an active union member for over 55 years, right up until his passing. He became a member of the 200 Sportsmen’s Club in Webster in 1971. In addition to being an active member, he held the office of president for many years. He also worked on a number of committees, including the membership committee. As part of the club, he organized fishing derby’s, dinners and many fundraisers. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Auburn Elks in Auburn. He enjoyed watching football and golf, and loved being on the golf course with his son and grandsons. Bob and his wife loved spending time at the Mousam River Campground in Kennebunk, Maine for many years, where they made many lifelong friends.

Bob loved cooking old Italian recipes and had a knack for making his well-known brandy. He enjoyed hosting family dinners and holiday parties. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He always made new friends and knew someone wherever he went.

Bob and his wife were high school sweethearts and have been inseparable ever since; she was the love of his life, and he never wavered in his love for her. He will be missed terribly.
