NORTH OXFORD / ELLCOTT CITY, MD - Robert A. Mongilio, 86, formerly of Shady Lane, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at his home in Ellicott City, MD. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Ruth M. (Katz) Mongilio, who died in 2008. He is survived by three sons, Bernard Mongilio of Gibsonia, PA, David Mongilio of Parkersburg, WV, and Michael Mongilio of Ellicott City, MD; a sister, Eva Desmond of Tivoli, NY; and eight grandchildren. He was born in Millbury, the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Zona) Mongilio, and lived in Millbury and Oxford before moving to Ellicott City in 2008. Mr. Mongilio graduated from Millbury High School in Millbury, received his bachelor's degree from Clark University in Worcester in 1952, and received his master's degree from Worcester State College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Mongilio was a teacher at Auburn High School in Auburn for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. He attended St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. A funeral will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. on St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, February 1, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
