OXFORD – Robert F. McCarthy, 79, of Spruce St., died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Autumn Village in Worcester, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine (Leboda) McCarthy of Oxford; a son, Robert D. McCarthy and his wife Linda of Auburn; a brother, Richard D. McCarthy of Rutland; two sisters, Shirley wife of Henry Govoni of Shrewsbury and Elizabeth "Betty" wife of Raymond Dagle of Northboro; two step grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late D. Francis and Katherine (Horton) McCarthy, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford 50 years ago. Mr. McCarthy was a truck driver at Wajers Express in Dudley for 25 years, retiring several years ago. Previously, he worked at Central Supply in Worcester. Mr. McCarthy was a member of the Teamsters Local 170 and was a former member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club in Worcester. He was a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed traveling with his wife. A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 13, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
