NORTH OXFORD - Robert H. "Bumpas" Lawson, 56, of Wallace Court, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gail J. (Graves) Lawson of North Oxford; three daughters, Christian Bowden and her husband Daniel of Dunnsville, VA, Colleen Lawson and her fiancé Joseph Bergeron of Richmond, VA, and Hillary Lawson of North Oxford; two sons, Robert J. Lawson of Springfield, and Timothy Lawson and his fiancée Farah Riche of Worcester; his exchange student son, Saranyu "Cap" Palajit; his mother, Elaine (Fant) Kentel of Worcester; his father and step mother, Raymond and Betty Lawson of Princeton; seven brothers and sisters, April Murray and her husband Christopher of Auburn, Cynthia O'Neil of Princeton, Dawn Murphy and her husband Kevin of Rutland, Joseph Trombi of Worcester, Stephen Kentel of Worcester, Lynne Lawson of Sterling, and William Lawson of Worcester; three grandchildren, Adelina and Henry Bowden, and James Lawson; as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lee Ann Lawson, who died in 1988. He was born in Sault Ste Marie, MI, was raised in Worcester, and lived most of his life in North Oxford. He graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester in 1972. Mr. Lawson worked for Process Systems Engineering for several years before he opened his own successful company, Lawson Tech in 1992. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in North Oxford and was a very active member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
