OXFORD - Rita A. (Latino) Smith, 84, of Carey Lane, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in her home after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George A. Smith of Oxford; two children, Karen V. Szufat and her husband Luke of Worcester, and Stephen A. Smith and his wife Patricia of North Oxford; six grandchildren, Brent, Brandon, Michael, Kyle, Lauren, and Lucas; a great grandson, Camren; a great great granddaughter, Kathryn; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Philip, and Charles; and two sisters, Ann and Phyllis. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Domenic and Mary (Genuardi) Latino, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford 48 years ago. Mrs. Smith was a seamstress at R.J. Toomey Co. in Worcester, retiring many years ago. She was a parishioner of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. She enjoyed bowling and dancing, and especially enjoyed square dancing. She belonged to the Nite Owls Square Dancing Group with her husband many years ago. Calling hours are Friday, April 9, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 8:00 p.m. during the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
