Richard Vezina

November 4, 1935 — May 6, 2015

OXFORD - Richard G. "Dick" Vezina, 79, died peacefully at his home in Oxford on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean (Colp) Vezina; three children, Mark Vezina of California, Cathleen (Vezina) Salapare and her husband Sennen of Maryland, and Brent Vezina of Oxford; two beloved grandsons, Gabriel A. Salapare of Maryland and Jared M. Vezina of Washington, DC; two brothers, Roger Vezina and his wife Marie of Pennsylvania, and Robert Vezina of Florida; a sister, Julie Clark of Florida; and several nephews and nieces. Richard was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, the son of the late Gerard and Simone (Tessier) Vezina. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, and lived most of his life in Oxford with his family. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for 8 years. Richard was a welder at Pratt and Whitney for several years, and was a manufacturing representative for several companies, until his retirement due to illness. He enjoyed his family, traveling, meeting new people, walking, and especially enjoyed attending the Oak Hill Bible Church in Oxford. Memorial calling hours are Friday, May 8, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the conclusion of the calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill Bible Church, 40 Sacarrappa Rd., Oxford, MA 01540.
