Richard Poirier

January 3, 1946 — August 14, 2017

OXFORD – Richard A. Poirier, 71, of Vine Street, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, June A. (Tornberg) Poirier of Oxford; his son, Jeffrey R. Plante of Oxford; a brother, Edmond Poirier of Canada; a sister, Leola Goegan of Canada; two granddaughters, Mehkenna Plante and Bridget Plante, both of Oxford. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Poirier of Canada. He was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, son of the late Alonzo and Adrienne (Pomerleau) Poirier, and lived in Oxford for over 20 years. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Poirier worked for many years as glazier, retiring several years ago. He enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots, going to the casino, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Overlook Masonic Health Center and the Veteran’s Administration, for the care and assistance Richard received during his illness.

Calling hours are Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A private military service will held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
