Richard Onge

OXFORD - Richard E. St. Onge, 84, of Wheelock Street, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Auburn with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine E. (Howard) St. Onge of Worcester. He is survived by three children, Rita E. St. Onge of Worcester, Robert E. St. Onge and his wife Mary Ellen of Warren, and Gail A. Wojtanek and her husband Edward of Oxford; his son-in-law, Lester Wilfong of Whitinsville; a brother, Alfred M. St. Onge of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and his girlfriend, Harriet Corrette of Oxford. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin R. St. Onge of California who died in 2003; a daughter, Cynthia R. Wilfong of Whitinsville who died in 2009; and a grandson, Robert G. Manseau III who died in 1974. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Ernest and Ann (Monahan) St. Onge, and lived in Worcester most of his life and Whitinsville for 3 years, before moving to Oxford in 1997. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1946. Mr. St. Onge worked at the former Phalo Corporation (currently Belden Corp.) in Shrewsbury and Worcester for 37 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and was a Red Sox fan. Mr. St. Onge was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in Okinawa, Japan, and aboard the U.S.S. LSM 87. A funeral will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Sunday, December 18, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
