Richard Guerin

OXFORD – Richard R. Guerin, 76, of Pine Street, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sonia K. (Zamaites) Guerin of Oxford; four children, Kathleen A. Goddard of Oxford, Richard P. Guerin of Oxford, Timothy J. Guerin and his wife Georgiann of Sutton, and Sean F. Guerin and his wife Yajaira of Dudley; three sisters, Cecile Deschenes of Auburn, Lorraine McDonough of Westboro, and Claire McGee of Quinebaug, CT; seven grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Paul Guerin, George Guerin, and Normand Guerin. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Philias and Emma L. (Lambert) Guerin, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1958. He graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester in 1949. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Guerin was a quality control inspector at T.B.V. in Sutton and Westboro for 3 years, retiring in 1998. Previously, he was the service manager at Harrity's Appliance Service in Worcester for 25 years and owned and operated Guerin's Appliance Service in Oxford and Worcester for 15 years. Mr. Guerin was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford. He enjoyed square dancing with the Spencer Squares and the Sutton Squares, and loved woodworking. A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2007, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Friday, August 3, 2007, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
