OXFORD - Richard D. Fitzgerald, 86, of Homestead Avenue, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jean M. (Fitzgerald) Fitzgerald of Oxford; three children, Richard A. Fitzgerald of Lehigh Acres, FL, Cynthia A. Masse and her husband Louis of Charlton, and Kerri M. Fitzgerald of Worcester; two step children, Richard Landry and his wife Chris of Grafton, and Robert Landry of Auburn; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was born in Boston, the son of the late Francis P. and Catherine M. (McCormack) Fitzgerald, and lived in Worcester, Shrewsbury, and South Grafton, before moving to Oxford 17 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Fitzgerald worked at Palson's Office Supply in Worcester, retiring in 2005. Previously, he owned and operated Richard's Office Supply in Auburn for 10 years. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4181 in Shrewsbury. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. A memorial calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA of Southern Worcester County, P.O. Box 368, 534 School St., Webster, MA 01570, or to the National Stroke Association, 9707 E. Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.
