Richard Erickson

November 13, 1946 — March 16, 2016

WORCESTER – Richard K. Erickson, 69, of Chadwick Street, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, in Worcester. He is survived by three children, Brian K. Erickson and his wife Karen of Oxford, Craig R. Erickson of Oxford, and Tara J. Erickson and her companion Michael Best of Webster; his mother, Mildred M. (Martin) Erickson of West Boylston; two brothers, Ronald L. Erickson and his wife Elaine of Leominster and Gary M. Erickson and his wife Dianne of West Boylston; four grandchildren, Paige Erickson of Oxford, Joel Erickson of Oxford, Haley Erickson of Fall River, and Christopher Best of Webster; and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Edwin R. Erickson, was raised in West Boylston and lived in Oxford, before moving to Worcester several years ago. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Mr. Erickson was a police officer on the Oxford Police Department for over 30 years, retiring in 2007. In addition, he worked Groundwater Supply Company in Sterling, which is owned and operated by his family. He was a member of the N.R.A. Mr. Erickson liked going out to different restaurants to enjoy time with his family and friends. He loved to watch a good tennis match, and most of all enjoyed watching his grandson play sports, especially football.

The family greatly appreciates the exceptional care given to Richard in the 3rd Floor I.C.U. at UMass.

Memorial calling hours are Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the conclusion of the calling hours, followed by military honors. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
