Richard Braney

NORTH OXFORD - Richard F. Braney, 84, of Main St., died suddenly on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster, after being stricken ill at home. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Theresa M. (Stafford) Braney of Oxford; three children, Richard G. Braney and his wife Barbara of Spencer, Kevin H. Braney and his wife Anne of Auburn, and Susan M. Gouin and her husband John of Rutland; a brother, John Q. Braney and his wife Carole of Worcester; six grandchildren, Jennifer and her fiancé Amir, Michael, Christopher and his wife Deborah, Carolyn, Erin, and Lauren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Marion (McGill) Braney, and a brother, George F. Braney of Oxford, who died in 1999. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late George and Mary (McLaughlin) Braney, and was raised in Millbury before moving to North Oxford many years ago. Mr. Braney graduated from Millbury High School in 1942. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as quartermaster in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Braney was employed by Mulitbank in Auburn for five years, retiring in 1990. Previously, he was a truck driver for 40 years. He was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford, and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family, especially his grandchildren. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be at a later date at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 17, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537.
