WEBSTER - Richard M. Barnes, 69, of Whitcomb St., died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Webster Manor Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Barbara L. (Berry) Barnes of Webster; and a daughter, Dawn E. Barnes. He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Barnes and her significant other Danie Peters of Tennessee, and Tracey L. Eggleston and her husband Michael of Webster; two brothers, David Barnes of Florida and Leon Barnes of Connecticut; many grandchildren, including Russell Eggleston; many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins; and two "adopted" daughters, Kayti Dubuque and her husband Mike of Charlton and Sarah Papa and her husband Joey of Rhode Island. He was born in New Haven, CT, the son of the late Almon and Ella (Farren) Barnes, and lived in Oxford for 23 years before moving to Webster 10 years ago. He graduated from North Haven High School in 1962, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Barnes was a courier for Medco Systems for 11 years, retiring due to illness in 2012. Previously, he worked for Digital Equipment Corp. for 27 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Oxford. He enjoyed reading, making silk flower arrangements, and traveling to Maine with his wife. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, 693 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Memorial calling hours are Friday, July 5, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445, or to Webster Manor Nursing Home, 745 School St., Webster, MA 01570.
