CHARLTON – Rene “Oscar” O.L. Robert, 88, of Muggett Hill Road, died peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2017, in his home with his family present. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine A. (Ricard) Robert of Charlton who died in 1990. He is survived by four children, Patricia A. Hughes, Donna M. Robert, Janice M. Robert and her husband Gary Temple, and Frank A. Robert and his wife Lee, all of Charlton; six grandchildren, Michael J. Hughes Jr., Crystal M. Raucci-Robert, Angela L. Avramidis, Scott D. Robert, Rebekah L. Hughes, and Daniel L. Robert; and six great-grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Armand F. and Marie A. (Metivier) Robert, was raised in Oxford and lived in Webster, before moving to Charlton in 1976.

Mr. Robert was a truck driver for Matlack Inc. in Norwich, CT, for 20 years, retiring in 1993. He was a barber in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He owned Oscar’s Barber Shop in Webster and owned a junk yard for several years in Southbridge.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial will be private at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Webster. Calling hours are Friday, August 4, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to Overlook Hospice, P.O. Box 1000, Charlton, MA 01507.
