CHARLTON - Rene "Ray" G. Lagace, 79, of Hycrest Road, died Thursday, September 20, 2012, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Blanche H. (LaBarre) Lagace of Charlton; four children, Michele R. DeMauro of Charlton, Paul R. Lagace and his wife Denise of Worcester, Monique J. Moran of Webster, and Diane M. Lagace of Lake Mary, FL; a brother, Ronald Lagace of Worcester; a sister, Rita George of Urbana, OH; five grandchildren, Nicole Duclos, Brian LaMonica, Lauren Lagace, Christopher Moran, and Danielle Moran; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Lagace; and a brother, Maurice Lagace. He was born in Fitchburg, the son of the late Homer and Theresa (Proulx) Lagace, and lived in Worcester before moving to Charlton 23 years ago. He graduated from Holy Name High School in 1950 and attended New England School of Accounting in Worcester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Lagace worked at the former Koebel Diamond Tool Company and Norton Company in Worcester for 41 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Charlton. He enjoyed horseshoes, shooting pool, bowling and cribbage. He liked taking walks, gardening, and doing carpentry around the house. Most importantly, he was a family man - a wonderful husband and father and the most even-tempered man you could ever meet. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the P.C.U. at St. Vincent Hospital for their exceptional care, as well as the V.N.A. Care Hospice for helping Rene at home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at St. Joseph's Church, 10 H. Putnam Road Ext., Charlton. Family and friends are welcome to gather in the rotunda of the church at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, September 24, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church or the St. Joseph's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 338, Charlton City, MA 01508.
