OXFORD / CANYON LAKE, CA – Raymond J. Chenette Jr., 50, of Canyon Lake Drive South and formerly of Oxford, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Inland Valley Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by three children, Joseph M. Bertine and his wife Nicole of Canyon Lake, CA; Jill M. Ravelli and her husband Dennis of Leicester; and Lori B. Chenette of Oxford; his mother, Jeanne M. (Aubuchont) Chenette of Cherry Valley; his first wife, Karin J. (Anderson) Richardson of Oxford; his second wife Donna M. (Mayo) Chenette of Northboro; two brothers, Paul J. Chenette of Canyon Lake, CA, and Stephen P. Chenette of Spencer; four sisters, Michele D. Bennett of Putnam, CT, Paula A. Blackwood of Oxford, Lisa J. Grady of Webster, and Jeannine A. Peloquin of Cherry Valley; four grandchildren, Lillian & Anthony Ravelli, Katrina & Michael Bertine; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond J. Chenette Sr. and Ruby A. (Pettis) Dickie. He was born on October 3, 1957, in Worcester, and lived in Oxford and Holden before moving to Canyon Lake, CA, 18 years ago. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1976. Ray owned and operated his own landscaping company in Canyon Lake, CA, for 3 years, retiring in 2007 due to illness. Previously, he operated Advanced Auto Collision in Temecula and worked in the auto body industry for many years. He was a former member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. Ray enjoyed playing the guitar and woodworking, but his true passion was golf. He was the founder of the annual Canyon Lake Jr. Golf Tournament which will now be named in his honor. A funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, January 11, 2008, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
