Raymond Angell

OXFORD -- Raymond W. Angell, 60, of Main St., died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Amy E. (Guzman) Angell of Oxford; eleven children, Kathleen L. Angell, Daniel R. Angell, and Miranda L. Angell, all of Oxford, Joseph C. Pierce of Oxford, James P. Pierce of Pomfret, CT, Megan J. Nelson of Dudley, Denis M. Pierce of Grafton, Julie D. Wood of Fernandina Beach, FL, Erin D. Chalue of Oxford, Jennifer E. Sweeney of Oxford, and Lisa M. Tufty of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Richard Angell III of Millbury; a sister, Marylou Wozniak of Woodstock, CT; 26 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and a grandchild expected in August. He was born in Milford, the son of the late Richard and Lydia (Jodoin) Angell, and lived in North Grafton before moving to Oxford 28 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Angell was a bridge inspector and worked in the construction division at the Massachusetts Highway Dept. for 21 years, retiring in 2007. He was also a surveyor and was a member of the V.F.W. Post in South Grafton. He loved to be outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed sports, going to the mountains, and spending time with his family and children. A funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
